About me
Since 2005, Erik has practiced litigation and general matters in Chicago. A zest for what’s right and willingness to stand firm for it are what characterize his practice. Erik turned to the law to focus on two things: the client and service.
Growing up in the small town of Muscatine, Iowa on the Mississippi river, Erik decided to become a lawyer when he found out his favorite president—Abraham Lincoln—practiced the profession. In 1996, Erik was appointed by Congressman James A. Leach of Iowa to be a Page in the United States House of Representatives. After that experience, studying and working in Washington, DC, Erik became a Congress-Bundestag Scholar in Gelnhausen, Hessen, Germany. From 1997-1998, Erik lived and studied in Germany, broadening his view of the world and learning every day about different people and cultures.
This lifelong devotion to learning and service followed Erik into his years at Hillsdale College in Michigan and Vanderbilt University Law School in Nashville, Tennessee. After law school, Erik returned to the Midwest to work on commercial litigation matters at the world-class law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. During his tenure there, Erik defended clients in matters ranging from securities and consumer fraud to trade secrets, contracts, and toxic torts.
Yearning for a close connection with clients in their everyday lives, Erik founded his own law practice in 2009 and continued as Newton's Law P.C. in 2010. He had one aim: to get people the help they need, while giving the best service they can find.
