Estate planning packages

  • Basic. The basic package includes drafting a will to bequeath your assets to family and friends, a living will to direct your medical treatment should you be incapacitated, powers of attorney for financial and health matters, and documentation stating how and by whom you would like to be put to rest. Organ donor services are also provided free of charge.

  • Premium. The premium packages includes all the elements of the basic package as well as creation of trusts for your assets and pets, creation of a special needs trust, where appropriate, advising on the gift of assets before death, and four (4) lifetime credits towards amendment or replacement of your estate planning instruments. A revision of documents, changing specific components of a will, for example, is valued at one (1) credit. A complete superseding will, for example, revoking the first will and replacing it, is valued at two (2) credits.

  • Services to meet your needs. Estate planning for GLBT couples and friends can be more difficult...but, then again, what in life isn't? In many cases, immediate family, parents, brothers, and sisters, can interfere when you take ill or pass away and deprive your partner of their right to decide with you what is best or of a loving estate. The basic package for GLBT all the elements of the basic package above tailored to meet the needs of GLBT individuals and couples. In addition, it includes asset-planning, a five-year committment to advise on matters of estate planning, and an offer to revise the estate planning instruments should a change in the law in the next five years require it. The fact that the law doesn't automatically protect you in the same way it protects others should not stop you from demanding and planning for the same protections on your own. This includes considering your options under Illinois' new Civil Union law beginning in June 2011.

  • Premium. A premium package is also available containing all the elements of the premium package above as well as the extra tailoring and offers included with the GLBT-specific basic package.
